Abstract

The survey in this research study aimed to determine 1) the level of knowledge, attitudes, perceptions regarding the prevention and control behavior of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) among people in a village that experienced an endemic of DHF (“endemic village”) and a village with no incidence of DHF (“non-incidence village”), and 2) factors related to prevention and control behavior of DHF in the Nampud Sub-District, Mueang District, Trang Province.  We randomly sampled two hundred and sixty-six people were sampling as household representatives. The sample consisted of 149 people from the epidemic village, and 117 people of non-incidence village. We analyzed the data using descriptive statistics; including percentage, mean, and standard deviation, chi-square analysis, and Spearman rank correlation coefficient.

The results revealed that in the non-incidence village, there was high knowledge level, good attitude, moderate perception and good prevention and control behavior. In the endemic village, there was moderate knowledge level, good attitude, moderate perception and good prevention and control behavior. In the non-incidence village, knowledge, attitude, perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, training, information obtaining and patients’ and cousins’ experiences were associated with prevention and control behavior on DHF , but the endemic village is only attitude.
