Relationship between Health Literacy and Behaviors to Prevent COVID-19 among University Students

This descriptive study aimed to relationship between health literacy and COVID-19 prevention behaviors in a university-aged population. The study population was a cohort of university students enrolled in the 2020 academic year. We obtained using a study population of 230 people using a systematic sampling method. We collected data using questionnaires. We analyzed data using descriptive statistics I, percentage, mean, standard deviation. and chi-square statistics.
The results of the study showed that the study participants were well versed in health. A majority had easy access to information and health services skills (79.1%); comprehension skills (93.5%), and interpersonal skills. Study participants reported having good interpersonal skills including finding it easy to exchange (79.6%), discuss decision-making skills (90%), have self-management skills (81.3%), group together words, and have wording skills (87.4%). About half (50.0%) of covid-19 prevention behaviors were rated as being moderate. The correlation analysis showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between health services, decision making skills, self-management skills, and communication skills. There were statistically significant correlations with significance levels at 0.05 (p-value=0.029, 0.030, 0.001 and 0.001, respectively). We can participate in building knowledge of health skills together. We can also adopt a self-care strategy that includes: Keep it safe from COVID-19. And Stop COVID-19 infection spreading from oneself to family, community, and Thai society.
