Abstract

The objectives of this survey research were (1) to investigate medical staff’s personal characteristics, service perception and service satisfaction, and (2) to determine the relationships between personal characteristics as well as service perception of medical personnel and satisfaction with Medical Laboratory Services on ISO 15189 of Disease Control under the Office of Disease Prevention and Control 12 Songkhla Province (ODPC-12 Songkhla).

The study involved 120 medical staff working in network hospitals under the supervision of seven lower southern provinces, comprising Songkhla, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat. The research instrument for data collection was a questionnaire with a validity value of 0.92; data were analyzed using statistics, including percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test, and Pearson’s correlation.

The results indicated that, among all respondents: (1) most of them were females with a mean age of 41.81 years, graduated with a bachelor’s degree, worked as medical technologists, had at least 21 years of working experience (mean, 17.14 years); most of them used HIV viral load testing service once a month; and their service perception and satisfaction with the service were at the highest level; and (2) in terms of personal characteristics, it was found that gender and service perception were significantly related to medical staff satisfaction with ODPC-12 Songkhla’s Medical Laboratory Services on ISO 15189 of Disease Control  (P < 0.05 and < 0.01, respectively).
