Keywords:

This study was a quasi-experimental research study aimed to examine the effect of the Household Fire Prevention Safety Program. 50 volunteer participants were selected by simple random sampling to implement the safety programs. The safety program was continuously conducted with 8 activities for 14 weeks. Our results were analyzed by descriptive statistics.
Results found that the perception of fire prevention motivation before receiving safety programs had a moderate level score (=2.32± S.D.=0.65). The score increased to high level after the program intervention ( =2.80± S.D.=0.41). Social support for preventing fires before conducting the program had a high initial score ( =2.38± S.D.=0.84). However, the score increased to a higher level ( =2.76± S.D.=0.44) after the program intervention. In addition, fire prevention behavior had a high-level score ( =2.49± S.D.=0.63) before implementing the program. After the safety program completion, the prevention behavior score was even higher than before implementation
( =2.86± S.D.=0.35). This study revealed that there were statistically significant improvements in the scores for safety perception, social support and fire prevention behavior when comparing them before and after program intervention (p-value <0.001). Therefore, providing the fire safety program for perception and social support in fire prevention has helped to improve the safety behavior in the community.
