Abstract

Abstract

This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to study factors related to alcohol drinking behaviors of people in a community in Phayao Province. The study subjects were consisted of 290 people. The subjects were selected by group sampling method. Data were collected using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Chi-square test. The study was conducted during 22 November, 2021 and 20 February 2022. 

The results showed that 64.8% were female and 35.2% were male, aged under 25 years, 56.2% had completed a higher education, 53.4% ​​had no occupation, 51.0% had an average monthly income of more than 5,000 baht, 63.8% had a hundred welfare, 81.0 percent had no underlying disease, 82.4% had a history of alcohol use, 67.9% had knowledge and were affected by alcohol at a high level, 63.8% and 55.9 percent had attitudes about alcohol consumption at moderate level. The associations revealed that sex, age group, education, income, welfare, alcohol drinking history, and attitude were significantly correlated with alcohol drinking behavior at statistically significant of 0.05. Occupations, congenital diseases, knowledge and impacts on alcohol consumption were not correlated with alcohol drinking behavior.  

Suggestions should be made in coordination with community leaders or related agencies to jointly organize activities to strengthen and develop attitudes for people who are drinking alcohol to be used in determining solutions.
