Health Literacy in Nutritional Value and Food Consumption Behaviors toward Food Delivery Service among Senior High School Students in Chonburi Province

Abstract

          This cross-sectional analytical study aimed to investigate the relationship between health literacy in nutritional value and food consumption behaviors toward food delivery service among senior high school students (Grades 10-12). The study sample consisted of 96 senior high school students from a school located in the service area of Ban Hua Krok Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Statistics were used to analyse data, including descriptive statistics, such as percentage, mean, and standard deviation, along with inferential statistics, namely Pearson's correlation coefficient, with a statistical significance level set at 0.05.

           The results showed that health literacy, including behavioral modification skills (r = 0.26), skills accessing and verifying health information skills (r = 0.25), ability to interact and inquire to verify accuracy skills (r = 0.29), and advisory skills (r = 0.33), were significantly correlated with food consumption behaviors from food delivery service at a significance level of < 0.05.

           Therefore, it is recommended to promote and develop health literacy through accurate and easily accessible information. It is also important to support consumers, especially students, in developing the skills to verify and make their own healthy food choices. This will lead to improved food consumption behaviors from food delivery service, which in turn will help reduce long-term negative health impacts.
