The objectives this research were to (1) identify factors related to motivation and organization support in nursing service quality development, (2) determine the level of participation in nursing service quality development, and (3) assess the influence on the participation in nursing service quality development of registered nurses (RNs) at hospitals under the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) in Prachinburi province.
The cross-sectional study was conducted in a sample of 266 RNs at MOPH hospitals in Prachinburi. The sample size was calculated using the estimation of population proportion of a finite population method. Data were collected using a questionnaire whose content validity index was 0.87 and reliability scores of motivation, organization support and participation were 0.92, 0.93 and 0.96, respectively. The data were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results showed that: (1) among the participants, had a high level of motivation (Mean = 3.81, S.D = 0.65) and high support from the organization (Mean = 3.56, S.D = 0.64) to develop the quality of nursing services; (2) the level of participation in nursing service quality development was high(Mean = 3.43, S.D = 0.73); and (3) the educational level (Beta = -0.105), positions (Beta = -0.109), serving on the nursing service quality development committee (Beta = 0.184), motivation factors (Beta = 0.169) and organization support (Beta = 0.585) were significantly related to the participation in nursing service quality development at 61.80% (p-value < 0.05). Therefore, hospital administrators should support RNs in developing their knowledge and provide opportunities for RNs at all levels to participate in nursing service quality development.
