Factors associated with Alcohol Drinking among Hypertension Patients in Banphai District, Khon Kaen Province

A cross-sectional analytical study aimed to identify the factor associated with alcohol drinking among hypertension patients in BanPhai District KhonKaen Province. 225 of sample size were selected by systematic random sampling. The data were analyzed by computer programs and presented by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, and multiple logistic regression models (with 95% CI)
The results revealed that the prevalence of alcohol drinking among HT patients were 18.22% (95% CI: 12.88 to 23.12). Almost half of them have the health literacy: cognitive skill dimension presented at a moderate level (44.44%). More than half of them have the health literacy: access skill dimension presented at the moderate level (66.22%). Almost of them have a health literacy: communication skill dimension presented at the moderate level (82.22%). Half of them have the health literacy: self-management skill dimension presented at the moderate level (49.78%). Half of them have the health literacy: media literacy skill dimension presented at the moderate level (62.67%). Half of them have the health literacy: decision skill dimension presented at a good level (53.33%). Factors associated with alcohol drinking among hypertension patients were Health literacy : cognitive skill dimension(Adj. OR=3.33 ; 95%CI: 1.26 to 5.34 ; p-value = 0.010) and were health literacy: decision skill dimension(Adj. OR=2.59 ; 95%CI: 1.59 to 6.97 ; p-value = 0.001). There are statistically significant relationships.
Therefore, suggestions: The stakeholder should be promoting proactive activities or campaigns to increase cognitive skill and decision skill for change the behavior of alcohol consumption and increase the level of health literacy to be higher.
