บทคัดย่อ

This traditional ethnographic research study aimed to describe  health status according to cultural dimensions of transcultural service recipients based on expert perspectives. The informants consisted of 24 nurses including (1) ten  nursing instructors (2) seven  registered nurses, and  (3) seven transcultural service recipients recruited by purposive sampling technique. Data were collected by in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was employed for data analysis. The findings were as follows: 


            From the expert’s perspective, the definition of cultural dimensions related to health is an action or human activity including physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects according culture and beliefs. There were 4 aspects of guidelines for assessment of health status according to cultural dimensions of the transcultural service recipients including physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects. Experts viewed cultural dimensions for the physical aspect in 2 sub-dimensions, including; biological variations and environment control. The mental aspect was viewed in 3 sub-dimensions, including; personal space, time, and communication while the social aspect was viewed in one dimension as social organization. The spiritual aspect was also viewed in one dimension as values and beliefs of service recipients. This study provides a framework for assessing the health status of transcultural service recipients and  develop a culture-based health assessment model for transcultural service recipients for complete and effective data collection for nursing planning.
