Effectiveness of the Nursing Innovation Learning Center for Health Promotion: Caring System in Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) Patients in Chonburi Hospital

Abstract

        This action research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing innovation learning center: a caring system in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis patients. The sample comprised the nurses who worked about caring  for CAPD patients in Chonburi  hospital, nurses from other hospitals, and  nursing students who studied in the Faculty of Nursing, Burapha University. The total sample comprised 20 people. Everyone volunteered to learn. Research tools comprised the Innovative Health Promoting Handbook, 7 modules of health promotion, the Teacher’s guide handbook and Learner’s guide handbook for the CAPD patients caring system, learning evaluation model, questionnaire  and evaluation model for the learning opinion of the sample. This learning took 3 days. Data analysis was descriptive and parametric statistics by dependent statistics on t-test and content analysis. The results of the research showed that the score of the learners was at the good level. The learning score of the learners were different at the 0.05 level of statistical significance (t = 7.218, p < 0.001), the scores after-learning (13.05) were higher than the pre-learning score (8.80) from the full 15 points. The mean of the learner’s opinion in the learning center was at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.71, SD 2.97). The mean of the learner’s opinion in the  management process to encourage the role of nurses in health promotion was the highest (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.87, SD 1.10). The qualitative analysis showed that the learners had attitudes about the learning in 3 topics: the strengths of the learning center, the development suggestions and the impression/ inspiration  received. In conclusion, learning at the learning center was effective from the learners and should be published as an example.
