Disaster nursing is a nursing practice that requires both nursing knowledge and skills to apply before, during and after emergency situations, in order to prevent and reduce losses, including the physical and mental rehabilitation of the affected people and their relatives. The Thai Red Cross Society is the first institution in Thailand with the aim of originating nursing personnel for emergency operations.
Besides, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement also has been supporting and providing disaster management trainings to the nursing personnel of the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Society at international and regional levels. The training would help Thai Red Cross nurses who would like to be deployed and worked at the international level to gain more knowledge and understanding about disaster management. Also it is able to provide assistance to the affected people according to international standards.
