Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support: Case Study of Type 1 Diabetes Adolescents

Abstract

               Type 1 diabetes is a crucial health problem mostly found in children and adolescents. It is a mostly uncontrollable disease that leads to hospitalization from either hypo-or hyper-glycemia. Diabetes self-management education and support is an important strategy and necessary for taking care of diabetics to be able to control their blood sugar and prevent complications. This article presents principles of diabetes self-management education and support to promote a good quality of life for persons with diabetes, and including a case study.
