โรคเบาหวานชนิดที่ 1 เป็นปัญหาสาธารณสุขที่สำคัญที่พบมากในเด็กและวัยรุ่น ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่ควบคุมเบาหวานได้ไม่ดี เป็นสาเหตุเข้ารับการรักษาในโรงพยาบาลด้วยภาวะแทรกซ้อนฉุกเฉินบ่อยครั้งจากระดับน้ำตาลในเลือดต่ำหรือสูง การให้ความรู้และสนับสนุนช่วยเหลือเพื่อการจัดการตนเองของผู้เป็นเบาหวานเป็นยุทธวิธีที่มีความสำคัญและจำเป็นในการรักษาพยาบาลโรคเบาหวาน เพื่อให้ผู้เป็นเบาหวานสามารถควบคุมระดับน้ำตาลในเลือด ป้องกันการเกิดภาวะแทรกซ้อน บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะนำเสนอหลักการให้ความรู้และสนับสนุนช่วยเหลือเพื่อการจัดการตนเองของผู้เป็นเบาหวาน เพื่อส่งเสริมการมีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีของผู้เป็นเบาหวาน พร้อมกรณีศึกษา
