Promoting Breastfeeding During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The situation of the Covid-19 has greatly impacted the health system and posed a global public health challenge. Among many others, this includes breastfeeding promotion services. The close contact nature of breastfeeding presents a risk of spreading infection. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the service model to suit the situation, avoid negligence and respond to the pandemic by implementing guidance on infection prevention and control for COVID-19. This includes caring for and managing the effects, concerns, and questions of mothers and their families. Promoting breastfeeding in this situation is a challenge for nurses to improve and develop effective nursing methods to help mothers succeed in breastfeeding while also staying safe. This article will present the importance of breastfeeding, challenges of nurses in promoting breastfeeding and recommendations to promote breastfeeding during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to achieve understanding and crate a guide for application.
