Abstract

The purpose of this research was to compare knowledge, pain, physical activity and satisfaction with nursing care among anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction patients in orthopedic ambulatory surgery. The subjects were 27 patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction at the Orthopedics Inpatient Department, Ramathibodi Hospital. The five instruments used for data collection included the demographic characteristics questionnaire, the short Thai IPAQ, knowledge test and satisfaction with nursing care questionnaire. Data was collected on postoperative day 0, 2 weeks and 4 weeks, and it was analyzed in terms of descriptive statistics of percentage, mean and standard deviation as well as inferential statistics including The Freidman test.

Findings revealed that knowledge was not statistically or significantly different on postoperative day 0 versus 2 weeks and 4 weeks. The pain score was statistically significant difference on postoperative day 0 versus 2 weeks and 4 weeks at p<.05. Physical activity was not statistically or significantly differenct on postoperative day 0 versus 4 weeks of the surgery. The overall score of satisfaction with nursing care was high. There should be ongoing follow-up to obtain sufficient information for further development of the research.
