Knowledge, Attitudes, and Preventive Behaviors toward coronavirus disease 2019, Udon Thani

This descriptive research aimed to study knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviors toward Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Simple random sampling of 420 people in Udon Thani. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The content validity (IOC) was 0.67-1.00, the reliability of the knowledge, attitude and disease prevention questionnaire were 0.82, 0.74 and 0.77, respectively. Data were collected from October 2020 to March 2021. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and Pearson product moment correlation.
The results showed that most of the samples were female (61.19%), The average age is 46 years old. Knowledge about Coronavirus disease 2019 was at a high level (x̄ = 6.32, SD = 1.54), Attitude was at a high level (x̄ = 3.99, SD=0.53), and prevention behavior was at a high level (x̄ =4.48, SD=0.50). Comparison among the age groups were significant difference in knowledge and prevention behaviors (p<0.05), Residents’ communities were significant difference in prevention behaviors (p<0.05), Educational levels and occupations groups were significant difference in knowledge, attitudes, and prevention behaviors (p<.05), Income groups were significant difference in attitudes (p<0.05). Finally, Knowledge and attitudes were related to disease prevention behaviors.
Recommendations from research results among the elderly living in the municipality, uneducated group, and low-income groups should be promoted about knowledge and preventive behaviors in many ways to prevent the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 in a concrete way and effective at the provincial level.
