A Survey on Good Governance and Effectiveness of Administration in the District Public Health Office of Suphanburi Province

This survey aimed to: 1) assess the administration's level in adhering to principles of "good governance", 2) evaluate the effectiveness of the district public health office administration, and 3) investigate relationships, in the district public health office in Suphanburi, between adherence to principles of good governance and effectiveness of administration. Reliability of questionnaire used for data collection was 0.932. Sample was 370 healthcare professionals. Multi-stage sampling was applied.Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson's correlation were utilized for data analysis. The findings showed as follows.
- Overall administration was at a high level. (M= 4.15, S.D.= 0.65).
- The effectiveness of the administration, in the aspect of goal achievement, was at a high level (M= 3.78, S.D.= 0.75), and satisfaction towards management performance was also high (M= 3.76, S.D.= 0.78).
- The overall administration, in accordance with ten individual principles of good governance, was moderately positively correlated with the goal achievement at the 0.05 significant level, and that had moderate positive correlations with the satisfaction in the management performance at the 0.05 significant level.
This research suggested that, firstly, the Provincial Public Health Office should provide trainings continuously, in order to improve level of good governance for practitioners and other personnel at all district levels and sub-district health promoting hospitals in Suphanburi province. Trainings on good governance principles should as well be provided for new staff in each and every health care unit. Secondly, the District Public Health Office should support and promote personnel in applying good governance in the performance of every mission
