Keywords:
Oral Health Care, , Preschool Children, Parents, Preschool Child Development CenterAbstract
This descriptive research aimed to 1) study the level of knowledge, attitude, and behaviours about oral health care of preschool children’s parents, and 2) determine the factors related to the oral health care behaviours. Sample was 198 parents of preschool children at Praphrom Child Development Center. Systematic random sampling was applied. Data were analysed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square, and Fisher’s exact test.
Results revealed that most of parents (84.8%) had knowledge at a moderate level regarding the oral health care for their children. 67.2% of those samples had attitude at a high level regarding oral health care. Most of parents (80.3%) needed to improve their behaviours of oral health care for their children. Dental health new, parents’ income, and parent’s knowledge were significantly correlated with the oral health care behaviours (p<0.05).
Research findings suggest that parents had insufficient knowledge on how to care for pre-school children’s oral health. Therefore, the research results should be used to guide planning, and develop appropriate models for oral health promotion activities of preschool children in child development centers.
