Abstract

This action research aimed to develop and assess the operations for COVID-19 in Hat Yai District of Songkhla province. The study was conducted from April 2021 to April 2022. The samples were an operational driving team (62 people), and operating and developing groups from two communities (85 people per community). Purposive sampling was applied. Data were analyzed using content analysis, descriptive statistics, and paired t-test.

The results showed that the development of disease prevention and control operations included the four following steps: 1) analysis of disease outbreaks, and stakeholders in disease control operations, 2) implementation of strategies including disease surveillance, personnel development, risk communication, and management, 3) development of the surveillance and risk group search system, 4) monitoring of process every 14 days, and 5) evaluation by network partners. The results indicated that knowledge and perceived risk of COVID-19 were significantly higher than before the implementation (p ≤ 0.05).

This study can be used as a guideline for the local administrations in prevention and control of communicable diseases.
