The Satisfaction of Patients and Relatives from services of In-patient Department, Phrom Khiri Hospital Nakhon Si Thammarat Province
Abstract
The descriptive research aimed to: 1) study the satisfaction of patients and their relatives towards the in-patient department (IPD) services of Phrom Khiri Hospital, and 2) explore the relationships between personal factors and satisfaction. The studied population were patients who received services at the IPD in the fiscal year 2022, as well as their relatives. The G*Power program was used to calculated the sample size. Participants were 160 patients and their relatives. Simple random sampling was applied. Data were collected in December 2022. The research instrument was a questionnaire, including three parts: 1) personal factors information, 2) satisfaction towards the services of IPD, and 3) comments and suggestions. The content validity of the questionnaire was validated by three experts (CVI= 0.96). Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Chi-square test. The result were as follows.
1. Overall, the satisfaction of patients and relatives towards the services from IPD at the Phrom Kiri Hospital was at a high level (M= 4.13, S.D.= 0.49). When considering each part, it was found that the service behaviors of staff and professional nurses were at the highest leve (M= 4.26, S.D.= 0.57 and M= 4.26, S.D.= 0.51, respectively), followed by the doctors’ service that was at a high level (M = 4.15, S.D.= 0.54)
2. Type of patient, marital status, age, education level, occupation and income were statistically and significantly correlated to customers' satisfaction
3. The additional suggestions were that the buildings for ordinary and special ward rooms were insufficient, followed by inadequate parking spaces for cars and motorcycles, and insufficient bathrooms and shower rooms.
Therefore, the hospital should consider a plan to develop the quality of medical equipment to be ready for service, and provide better facilities, especially for patient rooms, toilets and parking spaces.
