Stress and the Effectiveness of Special Needs Childcare by Parentals at the Special Education Center, Samut Songkhram Province

Abstract

     This research is a cross-sectional descriptive research. The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of stress experienced by parents in caring for children with special needs, 2) to examine the level of effectiveness in parenting children with special needs, and 3) to explore the influence of stress levels on the effectiveness of parenting children with special needs. The sample group is parents of children with special needs. The researchers selected a purposive sampling. The number of samples was 234 people. Use a questionnaire to collect data. Data analysis using descriptive statistics and enter multiple regression analysis.

          The results showed that most parents of special children had a moderately higher stress level in caring for special children. Parents of children with special needs are confident in their own ability to govern children with a moderate level of confidence. Forecasting the influence of stress levels on the effectiveness of parenting special children. The best in descending order are: Stress is within normal limits (β = 0.376) Stress is significantly lower than normal (β = 0.259) Stress is moderately above normal (β = 0.231) Stress is slightly higher than normal (β = 0.222) and the stress is much higher than normal (β = 0.192).

          Taking care of special children requires physical and mental support, as well as encouragement, and support advice from relevant agencies. To achieve quality collaboration. Encourage parents to manage problems as well as promote appropriate emotional management.
