Abstract

This research and innovation development has the research objectives to 1) create and develop an innovation of a learning simulation kit for fetal health examination. 2) Effectiveness of nursing students on using innovative simulation kits for learning fetal health examination (EFM) 3) Comparison of knowledge and ability in interpreting fetal health examination graphs. The research was conducted in 2 steps as follows: Step 1: Create and develop an innovative simulation kit for learning about fetal health examinations. Study the concepts, theories, related research, and experts. 2) Develop the innovative simulation kit. 3) Test the innovation Step 2: Evaluate the effectiveness of the innovation. The sample group consisted of 60 third-year nursing students, Class 57, Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Songkhla, academic year 2024. The research instruments consisted of: 1) Innovation of the Fetal Monitoring Learning Simulation Kit (EFM) and the Electronic Fetal Monitoring Knowledge Manual 2) Evaluation form for the effectiveness of the innovation of the Fetal Monitoring Learning Simulation Kit                  3) Achievement test before and after using the innovation. Content validity index (IOC) .67 -1.00 Cronbach's alpha coefficient 0.93. Data analysis by analyzing data with frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation and Independent Simple t-test and Paired t-test statistics. The research results found that

                1) Innovative learning simulation kit for fetal health examination, which can be used realistically based on the same principles as Toco, with a strap connected to the monitor to interpret EFM results by attaching Toco to the top of the uterus (height of fundus), while U/S is attached to the back (shoulder blade area) of the baby.

                2) The effectiveness of nursing students towards using the innovation of the fetal health examination (EFM) learning simulation kit was at a high level (M= 4.40, S.D. = 0.60).

          3) The results of the knowledge test of the experimental group of nursing students towards the use of the innovation of the learning simulation kit for fetal health examination had a higher average score on the knowledge test after using the innovation. The nursing students in the control group who did not use the innovation were significantly different at the .05 level, and the mean scores of the knowledge test of the nursing students in both the experimental and control groups were significantly different at the .01 level.

The Fetal Monitoring (EFM) learning simulation kit can be used as a teaching aid for practical training in maternity, infant, and midwifery nursing to provide students with more knowledge, understanding, and confidence before practicing in the ward.
