Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF): Factors Related to Prevention and Control Behaviors among People in the Sub District with High-morbidity Rate, Chawang District of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

This cross-sectional study aimed to explore factors related to prevention and control behaviors of DHF among people in the Sub District with High-morbidity Rate, Chawang district of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Sample was 285 participants, chosen with systematic sampling. Data were collected during the period of July to August, 2020, using a questionnaire, and were analysed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, as well as logistic multiple regression. Results showed as follows.
- Most of participants had knowledge and practice about DHF prevention at a high level (M= 7.21, S.D.= 1.34 and M= 2.65, S.D.= 0.25, respectively), and had attitude towards DHF prevention at a moderate to high level (M= 3.61, S.D.= 0.49)
- In terms of age, it was found that the samples knowledge about DHF, it was found that the samples with moderate level of knowledge were 19% reduction in appropriate DHF prevention and control behaviors compared to those with low level of knowledge (ORadj= 0.30, 95%CI: 0.12-0.75). In terms of attitudes towards DHF prevention and control, it was found that the samples with high level of attitude, had appropriate DHF prevention and control behaviors 2.17 times higher than those with low to moderate level of attitude (ORadj= 2.17,95% CI: 1.33-3.55).
Therefore, community campaign to increase awareness about DHF prevention and control should be run continually.
