PREDICTING FACTORS OF RESILIENCE QUOTIENT OF THE FIRST-YEAR NURSING STUDENTS, THE THAI RED CROSS COLLEGE OF NURSING

Abstract

                Objective: This predictive research purposes were to study resilience quotient, correlation of personal factors, stress, emotional quotient, social support with resilience quotient, and predicting factors of resilience quotient of the 1st year nursing students, The Thai Red Cross College of Nursing.


                Methods: Participants consisted of 140 1st year nursing students, the academic year 2016, The Thai Red Cross College of Nursing. The research instruments for collecting the data comprised of 5 parts: 1) personal data, 2) stress, 3) emotional quotient, 4) social support, and 5) resilience quotient assessments. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis.


                Results: 1) resilience quotient of nursing students was largely at a normal level in each aspect and total aspects. 2) grade point average and perceive healthy were correlated with resilience quotient of nursing students at the significant level of .05; stress, emotional quotient, and social support were correlated with resilience quotient of nursing students at the significant level of .01. 3) perceive healthy, emotional quotient, and social support were 59.40% predictive value of resilience quotient of nursing students at the significant level of .00.


                Conclusion: The results of this study found that the GPA perceive healthy, stress, emotional quotient, and social support was cumulative of nursing students had significant relationship with resilience quotient of nursing students. Therefore, the results of this study provide important information that could be used to enhancing the resilience quotient of nursing students.
