Tak Does Not Leave Anyone Behind Project: Crisis Management of COVID-19 Patients Return Home

Abstract

The purpose of study was to report lessons learned from a project “Tak Does Not Leave Anyone Behind”: a crisis management of COVID-19 patients return home in Tak province. The mixed methods of the study based on qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis where the qualitative method included an in-depth interview and group interviews from stakeholders involving in the project. The qualitative data relied on content analysis and the quantitative data being investigated by descriptive statistics. The results comprised a) Input, b) Process c) Output, and d) Outcome, which firstly the input was a committee for management center of COVID-19 patients back home. Secondly, the process was activities that well performed from the community level to provincial level and also included network formation and public communication. Thirdly, the output along the time during 2 July–24 August 2021, the management center received 2,808 contacts whose 527 COVID-19 patients got back to Tak Province for the medical care. The majority 438 patients (80.2%) traveled by hospital/military/NGO vehicles and 89 patients (16.3%) by personal cars. 417 patients received treatment in field hospitals (76.4%) and 129 in community hospitals (23.6%). And lastly the outcome achieved that COVID-19 patients could get back home for early treatment had neither complications nor spreading disease transmission. Particularly, a success factor demonstrated a result from good participation and cooperation of all sectors. In conclusion, participation and cooperation of all sectors should be a public policy with continuous development. A crisis management plan such as to develop a central committee for participation and cooperation of all involving sectors should be established earlier for a rapid management.
