Effects of Black Rose Wood Carpet on Relieving Foot Numbness in Type 2 Diabetic Patients at Nong Kainok Health Promoting Hospital, Muangsamsib District, Ubon Ratchathani

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effect of using Black Rose Wood carpet to relieve foot numbness in diabetic patients. The 60 diabetic patients were purposively selected from patients who attended chronic disease clinic of Nong Kai Nok Health Promoting Hospital, Mungsamsib, Ubon Ratchathani and followed the occurrence of feet numbness for 8 weeks. The data were collected by the questionnaire, foot-numbness examination form, satisfaction-assessment form and were analyzed by descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations and inferential statistics using paired sample t-tests to compare the means before and after the interventions. Results showed that, after the intervention, the levels of feet numbness of the subjects were significantly decreased from (=4.65, SD=2.42) to (=0.42, SD=0.75) at p<0.05. Overall satisfactions of the subjects on using the innovation were at a high level (=4.70, SD=0.47). So Black Rose Wood carpet should be promoted to relieve the feet numbness and decrease risk factors for feet complications among diabetic patients.
