ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถานการณ์เสี่ยงในการใช้ถุงยางอนามัยกับความสนใจใช้ยาต้านไวรัสป้องกันก่อนการสัมผัสเชื้อเอชไอวีในกลุ่มพนักงานบริการหญิง

การศึกษาสถานการณ์บังคับเกี่ยวกับการใช้ถุงยางอนามัย (Condom coercion conditions) กับความสนใจใช้ยาต้านไวรัสก่อนการสัมผัสเชื้อเอชไอวี (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis; PrEP) หรือยาเพร็พ ในกลุ่มพนักงานบริการหญิง (N=144) โดยใช้การวิเคราะห์ถดถอยโลจิสติค (Logistic Regression) พบว่า พนักงานบริการหญิงเผชิญสถานการณ์บังคับในการใช้ถุงยางอนามัยหลากหลายรูปแบบ ได้แก่ ลูกค้าเสนอเพิ่มเงินให้เพื่อไม่ต้องใช้ถุงยางอนามัย ลูกค้าแอบถอดถุงยางออกขณะมีเพศสัมพันธ์ หรือ ลูกค้าพาคนอื่นมามีเพศสัมพันธ์ด้วยมากกว่าที่ตกลงกันไว้ ซึ่งสถานการณ์หลังสุดนี้ มีผลให้พนักงานบริการหญิงมีความสนใจที่จะใช้ยาเพร็พมากกว่าพนักงานบริการหญิงที่ไม่ต้องเผชิญสถานการณ์นี้ถึง 4.3 เท่า (P-value = 0.049) ภาวะจำเป็นที่ทำให้เข้ามาประกอบอาชีพนี้ คือ การมีภาระในการส่งเสียลูกและครอบครัวทำให้เกิดความสนใจในการใช้ยาเพร็พถึง 3.3 เท่า (P-value = 0.018) ด้วยสถานการณ์เหล่านี้ แสดงให้เห็นถึงความจำเป็นที่ต้องขยายความครอบคลุมในการให้บริการยาเพร็พในกลุ่มพนักงานบริการหญิง ซึ่งยังอยู่ในระดับต่ำมากในปัจจุบัน
