Nurse Residency Coordinator: An Important Role for Professional Nursing development

Abstract
Developing post-baccalaureate nurse residency training program to educate new graduated nurse to be a proficient nurse within short period of time is a challenging. Thailand Nursing Council has developed nurse residency training program and encourages organizations nationwide to implement the programs into practice. Nurse residency coordinator has been identified as the key to the success of implementing the nurse residency training programs into practice. This article discusses the lessons’ learned from experiences in taking the role of nurse residency coordinator at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society. The contents focus on describing the clinical nurse educator who has been taking the role of nurse residency coordinator as identified by the Thailand Nursing Council. It is expecting that nursing organizations in Thailand could apply these information and experiences in planning the implementation of residency training program into practice.
