Abstract

To increase understanding the importance of advanced practice nursing among member countries, The International Council of Nurses has set the policy, which included; standard, characteristics, scope, preparation and regulation of advanced practice nurses. For Thailand, Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council has developed advanced practice nurses for two decades. At present, we use the same system with other health care profession. Advanced practice nurse with certified board from Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council was accepted by The Commission of Higher Education to be equivalent to those who received Doctoral Degree. However, continuous improvement requires the collaboration among advanced practice nurses themselves, educators, administrators and policy makers to make this role benefit to the health of people and the countries.
