การศึกษาภาวะซึมเศร้าในผู้ดูแลผู้ป่วย โรคอัมพาตหลอดเลือดสมอง

บทคัดย่อ

Objective: To study the prevalence of depression in the caregivers of stroke patients and to study the factors correlating with depression in the caregivers of stroke patients.

Design: Cross-sectional analytical descriptive study.

Setting: Consecutive stroke patients consulted for rehabilitation programme at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Bangsaphan Hospital from October to November 2015 and their caregivers.

Method: Each caregiver was administered the Thai Depression Test (2Q and 9Q) determining the prevalence of depression and Depth Interview Test. Each patients was administered the Bathel Index Test and Thai Depression Test. Data were analysed by descriptive statistic and Pearson’s correlation test.

Results: 41 stroke patients were 20 males (48.80%) and 21 females (51.20%).The average age was 71.85+10.15 years. 41 caregivers were 8 males (19.50%) and 33 females (80.50%). The average age was 47.80+12.22 years. The prevalence of depression among the caregivers was 26.83% (11 in 41 subjects). The factors significantly correlated with depression in caregivers were long period of weekly caregiving hours, education of caregiver, gender of patient and poor financial of caregiver respectively.

Conclusion: The prevalence of depression in caregivers were 26.83%. Long period of weekly caregiving hours, education of caregivers, gender of patient and poor financial of caregiver status significantly correlated with depression in caregivers.
