บทคัดย่อ

This research aimed to 1) study dengue fever knowledge, work incentives to prevent dengue fever, acquisition social support from government agencies, and the dengue fever preventive behavior by village
health volunteers. 2) compare preventive behavior among the village health volunteers classified by gender, age, education level, occupation, annual family income, years served as volunteers and the number of
households they served. 3) study the influence of dengue fever knowledge, work incentives to prevent dengue fever, acquisition of social support from government agencies and how these factors can predict
the dengue fever preventive behavior of village health volunteers. The sample consisted of 311 village health volunteers in Nakhon Chaisri District, Nakhon Pathom Province derived by multi-stage random
sampling. The research tool was a questionnaire constructed by the researchers and was proved by experts. The statistics used in data analysis were percentage (%), mean (X), standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, one-way ANOVA and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The results showed that:
1. The level of dengue fever knowledge was moderate, the level of work incentives to prevent dengue fever, of social support from government agencies and of preventive behavior was high.
2. Dengue fever preventive behavior of the village health volunteers as classified by occupation showed a statistically significant difference at a level of .05. There were no statistic differences according to gender, age, education level, family income per year, years served as volunteers and the number of households they served.
3. The social support from government agencies, and work incentives to prevent dengue fever can predict the dengue fever preventive behavior of the village health volunteers by 47 percent and was statistically significant at the level of .001.
Suggestion of this research is to provide social support and motivation to the village health volunteers in order to increase dengue fever prevention behavior including knowledge of the local habitat and the mosquito life cycle. Suggestions for future research include experimental research by using participatory workshops and/or studies in other nearby locations in order to compare the effectiveness and find out the best preventive behavior model.
