Results of Asthma Treatment in Children Asthma Clinic at Prachuapkhirikan Hospital

Abstract

Objective : To study results of asthma treatment and quality of life of patients in children asthma clinic at Prachuapkhirikan Hospital.

Methods : Retrospective and descriptive study in asthma patients who had attended in asthma clinic at least 1 year. The data were collected from asthma clinic medical record.

Results : The study involved 85 children of which 49 were male (57.65%) and 36 were female (42.35%). The study showed that among 65 children (76.47%) who had asthma symptoms before 5 years of age, there were only 38 children (44.71%) attended in asthma clinic before 5 years of age. The patients were treated as long as 3-4 years had totally controlled in 59.82%, otherwise the patients were treated 1-2 years had totally controlled in 39.10%. These results showed statistically significant difference (p-value < 0.05). All age groups of which attended in asthma clinic had significant.

Conclusions : The patients whom attended in children asthma clinic at Prachuapkhirikan hospital had achieving and maintaining control of asthma and better quality of life.
