The results revealed that foot numbness of patients in group 1 were not improved significantly after receiving the foot care knowledge program (p = 0.05), whereas group 2 significantly reduced numbness after receiving the program of foot care knowledge integrating foot massage by using coconut shell stepping (p = 0.00). When compared numbness on the feet after the program, both groups showed that group 2 had numbness feet lower than group 1 (P = 0.00) with statistically significant at the 0.01 level.
The results of this study indicate that the program of foot care knowledge integrating foot massage by using coconut shell stepping is more effective in reducing numbness of persons with type 2 diabetes than providing only foot care knowledge. Integrating foot massage by using coconut shell stepping which also promoting local wisdom for foot care in persons with diabetes is highly recommended.
