บทคัดย่อ

     Non-surgical endodontic retreatment is one of root canal therapy performed when previous root canal treatment are ineffective. This report is a case study of a patient who had the endodontic treatment in second lower left molar for a period of one year. The patient had a persistent pain after the treatment. The clinical record and the radiographic reports showed no pathology at the root canal and periapical tissue. The examination result indicated that the root canal had already been treated and good prognosis.The root canal therapy was reperformed for this patient by removal of the root canal filling. The treatment was carried out by softening the material, then filled the tooth with material, same color as the tooth and reduced the occlusion between teeth. After follow up for 6 months, the tooth worked effectively without showing any defects at the affected site. Factors that helped ensure the success of the root canal therapy were careful examination of the teeth, the expertise of the dentist, and the cooperation between the dentist and the patient.
