บทคัดย่อ

Cesarean section rates have increased continuously in the past 10 years. A retrospective study was made by reviewing obstetric data of Damnoensaduak Hospital from October 2002 to September 2007. The total deliveries was 5,578. The average of deliveries was 1,116 per year. Normal deliveries was 67.82 percent while the cesarean section was 18.20 percent. The cesarean section rate increase from 15.82 percent in the year 2003 to 22.51 percent in the year 2007. The first three indications were previous uterine scar, dystocia and mal presentation. These three indications involved 88.38 percent of all indications. Perinatal mortality rate was 8.07 per 1,000 deliveries that higher than 7.4 per 1,000 deliveries of Thai National perinatal mortality rate. The study showed no correlation between the cesarean section rate and the perinatal mortality rate.
