A retrospective study of 7,399 inpatients were scheduled for operation at Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital during 1 October 2004 - 30 September 2007. Outpatients and emergency cased were excluded. Preanesthetic evaluation records and cancellation of operation records were reviewed to determine the reduction of surgical cancellation from preanesthetic evaluation and visiting. This study showed that 409 cases or 5.53% were cancelled for surgery in that time. The group of patients who received preanesthetic evaluation were cancelled only 2.7% compared with the other group were cancelled 7.08%, so there had a statistical significantly difference. The most common cause in this study was medical problem (33.5%). The most common cause in non—preanesthetic evaluation group were medical problem too (35.8%) but in preanesthetic evaluation group were acute illness and incomplete preparation of patients (38%) and there had statistically significant in both groups. In this study found that General surgery patients were the most patients who were cancelled surgery in both non-preanesthetic and preanesthetic evaluation groups and there had no significant difference in statistic.
