บทคัดย่อ

This study was a quasi-experimental research. The purpose was to study the effect of applying and non-applying a heat lamp treatment on the healing of perineal wound in postpartum mothers. The perineal wound Assessment tool (REEDA scale) was used to collect the data during day 1, 2 and 3 of postpartum. The samples were 60 normal postpartum mothers with episiotomy wound and admitted at an obstetrical ward, Nakhonpathom Hospital in March 2007.

The samples were divided into 2 groups and each group consisted of 30 mothers. The first group was treated with a heal lamp while another group was not. The data was analyzed by percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and t-test was used to analyze a condition and a condition of the perineal wound.

The results were as follow:

  1. The healing of perineal wound during day 1, 2 and 3 of postpartum was significantly different at p-value (< 0.01) on both groups.
  1. The healing of perineal wound in the group of mothers with a heat lamp treatment was not significantly different from the group of mothers without a heat lamp treatment.

The suggestion from this research is that the perineal wound in postpartum mothers heals itself naturally. The heat lamp treatment was not help healing the perineal wound. A nursing of postpartum mothers should be done especially by cleaning the external genitalia, the perineal wound and anal area, to prevent the infection and to help healing the perineal wound.
