บทคัดย่อ

A retrospective study of acute ST elevation myocardial infarction at Bangpong Hospital was studied from January, 2001 to December, 2003. There were 108 patients with male to female ratio of 1.3 : 1. The range of age was 34-91 years old and mean of age was 64.4 years old. Anterior wall was the most common site of infarction (74%). The most complication was congestive heart failure (31.5%). The most serious cardiac arrhythmia were ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation (9.3%). Mortality rate was 16.7% (male = 44%, female = 56%). Most of the patient that died were elderly (male :71.5, female = 71.8 in average years of age) and had no chest pain in chief compliant (67%). We should pay more attention to elderly patient who complain of syncope, dyspepsia, dyspnea because they might have acute myocardial infarction with high mortality rate. Thrombolytic, antithrombotic, beta blocker, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) were used in minority of cases. The more using of these drugs might reduce mortality rate.
