บทคัดย่อ

Submerged tooth is the pathologic eruption of the tooth, resulted in an abnormal eruption or infraocclusion. It can be found in deciduous and! or permanent dentition. The etiology of the submerged tooth cannot be clearly identified. The lesion is asymtomatic but clinical examination found a missing or intraoc- cluded tooth.

Radiographic examination show that the tooth is infraocclusion, embedded in the oral tissue and the adjacent teeth are tipping. Definite diagnosis can be best identified from histopathologic examination. This is a case report of the 7-year-old boy patient who came to see the dentist due to a missing tooth #85. His medical history was healthy. The patient denied history of any accident. The radiographic examination showed the tooth #85 was unerupted.

The treatments was flap operation to expose the tooth and follow-up for 10 months. Alter 10 months, the tooth was still unerupted. Then the tooth #85 was extracted and a distal-shoe space maintainer was placed. After 2 years, the tooth #45 can normally erupt.

In histopathologic examination, lamellar bone was found so the tooth #85 had been diagnosed as submerged tooth.
