ความสัมพันธ์ของการสูบบุหรี่ กับความดันโลหิต ไต และไขมันในเลือด

บทคัดย่อ

          To study the effects of tobacco smoking on serum cholesterols, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), blood pressure, plasma glucose and kidney function in healthy Thai middle class factory workers and govemment olticials who came to check up at Out Patient Department of Rajavithi Hospital

          Design : Cross-sectionaI study of Thai middle class workers and subject of Out Patient Department of Rajavithi Hospital  49 nonsmokers and B4 smokers men.

          Material and Method : Eighty - four smokers and forty - nine non - smokers were subjects of this study. Each subject was interviewed about their smoking habit, the related question included the number of cigarettes smoking per day. The subjects were instructed to fast 12 hours prior to examination, ten milliliters of venous blood were collected then allowed to clot. The serum was separated from the clot by centrifuged at 2500 rpm., and were stored at 20°C until analysis was done.

          Result : The serum cholesterols, triglyceride, LDL concentration of smokers were higher than non - smoker but was not statistical significant. Serum HDL was lower in smokers than non-smoker with statistically significant (p = 0.031). Fasting blood glucose in smokers showed statistically significant higher than non-smokers (p = 0.040). Blood urea nitrogen showed no statistically significant but there is tendency of creatinine to be increased.
