บทคัดย่อ

          During August 2001 - March 2002, 326 neonates of Samutsakorn hospital were screened for neonatal hypoglycemia, using CPG of hypoglycemia screening of samutsakorn hospital, to study the incident rate of hypoglycemia in high risk neonates.

          We found that 35 of 326 (10.4%) were hypoglycemia. Infant of diabetic mother (IDM), 1 of 2 was hypoglycemic (50%). Term baby, Large for gestational age (LGA), body weight > 4,000 gms, 1 of 73 was hypoglycemic (1.4%). Term baby, small for gestational age (SGA), body weight < 2,500 gms, 19 of 153 were hypoglycemic (12.4%). Premature baby, 14 of 98 were hypoglycemic (14.3%).

          This study suggested that screening to neonatal hypoglycemia in high risk groups was important. Prompt recognition, prevention, and management of neonatal hypoglycemia were important to reduce as yet unquantified but warrying risk of neurological sequalae. lt was found that CPG of hypoglycemia screening of Samutsakorn Hospital was appropriatc.
