Retrospective study of clinical manifestations, laboratory features and epidemiology of dengue infection cases that were admitted in Ratchaburi hospital during November 2004-October 2005. There were 106 cases : boy = 60, girl = 46. Most of them were 10-14 years old and the second group were 5-9 years old. Diagnosis were dengue fever 36%, dengue hemorrhagic fever 63% and viral syndrome 7%. Signs and Symptoms were 3-B days of fever (100%), positive tourniquet test (80.46%) and hepatomegaly (29.25%). They had low white blood cell count, atypical lymphocyte, low blood platelet count and rising hematocrit. Viral isolations were DEN-1 36.08%, DEN-2 12.37% and DEN-4 51.55%. Most of the cases were secondary infection. No dead case was found.

Conclusion : Viral dengue infection cannot be differentiated from other viral infections by using only clinical diagnosis. The most appropriate measures (management) to reduce the fatality rate are closely monitoring the patients and effective fluid replacement.
