บทคัดย่อ

Retrospective studies of epidemiology of Hemophilia patients that have registered to Ratchaburi hospital (Hemophilia treatment center) during October 2006-September 2007. 14 Hemophilia patients, age distribution : 8 month -14 years, from Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Petchaburi and Nakhonpathom provinces. Diagnosis were : Hemophilia A 8, Hemophilia B 6, all present first episode of bleeding at age 6 months - 2 years, common site of bleeding : hemarthrosis, ecchymosis, muscle and soft tissues. Clotting factor concentrates replacement : about 500 IU/visit, 20 IU/kg./time. Factor VIII cost 2869 baht/month, Factor IX cost 6,946 baht/month.

Conclusion : Replacement therapy with factor concentrates can be administered as soon as bleeding starts, minimizing the amount of treatment product needed and avoiding long-term joint damge, reduces economic impact on healthcare systems and improves the quality of life for both the person with hemophilia and his family.
