การศึกษาประสิทธิผลของครีมน้ำมันตะไคร้ในการรักษาโรคกลาก

บทคัดย่อ

The lemon grass oil cream (Tacrile) was a herbal medicine, that the main component was citral. The citral had fungicidal activity to dermatophytosis. The lemon grass oil cream 2.5% in concentration was tested for antifungal efficacy in 30 patients who have ring worm not more than 5% of BSA at Dermato-logical unit of Chaoprayayomraj hospital, Supanburi province, by applied twice daily for 4 weeks.

The result of treatment was cured in 7 from 30 patients (23.33%), better in 14 patients (46.67%) and not cured in 9 patients (30%). No patients had relapsed disease at the fifth week. The patients whom result were better, had turned to cure at the filth week.

So we may conclude that 21 patients were cured (70%), 95% Cl was in range 54% to 86%. Acute toxicity was not found, but 2 patients had mild burning sensation and pruritus (6.66%). The response of patients to the lemon grass oil cream depended on species of dermatophytes and size of  Iesions.
