ผลของการรักษา Carpal Ganglion Cyst ด้วยการผ่าตัด

บทคัดย่อ

The retrospective study of 88 Carpal ganglion cysts seen in Pratumthani hospital during May 1992-Jan 1995 was conducted. All of these ganglions were solitary mass, not any exceeded 3 cms nor compressive neuropathy. Every cases was treated by excision. The duration of follow-up was 6 months. Duration of symptom before the operation averaged 241 ± 115 days. There were 64 women and 24 men. The ratio of female : male was 2.7 : 1. Carpal ganglion was found more frequently in the 11-40 year age group and the youngest case was female 9-year-old patient. The mean of age was 31.59 ± 3.28 years. Forty-nine cases (55.7%) were on the right and thirty-nine cases (44.3%) were on the left wrist. All of these had not any post operative complication, ganglion recurred in only 1 case (1.6%). Our findings suggested that early detection and the size of ganglion determine the result of the operation. The earlier detection and smaller size have the better outcome.
