บทคัดย่อ

A prospective study of 199 amphetamine users treated at Department of Psychiatry, Nakhonpathom Hospital, Nakhonpathom Province was performed during January 1998-December 1998. 84.4 percent of the patients were male, aged between 11-30 yrs.old. 32.7 percent of them were students. Average incomes were 1,000-5,000 bahts per month. 27.1 and 33.7 percent finished primary and secondary school respectively. 50.8 percent of them began to abuse drugs at the age 15-20 yrs.old. Most of them began taking drug because of wishing to experience it for 57.3 percent and from the persuation of friends for 34.7 percent. The risk and incentive factors of amphetamine abuse are resulted from the dependent and antisocial personality disorders which were affected by improper parental bringing up their offspring such as overindulgence, neglect and overdomination attitudes. The incentive factors for instance : child’s domestic and school environment, broken  family, low economic status and the patients’s low education. Therefore, the problem solving of amphetamine abuse should be emphasized on preventing of drug taking by encouraging the parents to build up warm familial relationship. to get a good and proper child rearing, to help the children attain their good mental health so that the children have the capability to oppose all illicit drugs.
