บทคัดย่อ

          This research was to study factors which were personal factors, knowledge, belief, practice and result of health education related to blood sugar level control of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Data were collected from interviewing 300 patients and randomly selected 60 patients with uncontrollable blood sugar level at Diabetic Clinic, Nakhonpathom hospital, since August-October, 1998. Dividing them into control group and experimental group, each group consisted of 30 patients.

          The experimental group was informed about health knowledge and then was interviewed and checked blood sugar level a month later. Data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square and t-test.

          The findings were summarized as follow:

  1. Complications were the only one personal factor negatively related to blood sugar level control with statistical significance at 0.001.
  2. Knowledge, belief and practice factors did not relate to blood sugar level control.

          3. Providing health knowledge factor did not relate to blood sugar level control and was unable to change patient's knowledge and belief, but it gave the positive practice with statistical significance at 0.019.
