From January 1993 to December 1995, patients with anti-HIV positive delivered at Photharam hospital were collected. From analysis showed the prevalence rate increase year by year from 1.13% in the year 1993 to 1.31% and 2.46% in the year 1994 and 1995 respectively. All of them were asymtomatic HIV infection, and had no serious obstetric complication. Most of the anti-HIV positive patients were young, low parity, low education, unskilled employee and were infected by sexual relationship. The group of anti-HIV parturients who did not recieve antenatal care and had no anti-HIV antibody screening was 20.2%. Major route of delivery in this group was normal vaginal delivery. Rate of postpartum tubal sterilization was low, inspite of pre-test and post-test counselling service. The most important obstacle to control HIV infection is low education and the co-operation of male partners for counselling and screening of Anti-HIV antibody.
