บทคัดย่อ

Retrospective study of 9 cases in children younger than 18 years of age with unilateral cataracts who had cataract extraction and IOL implantation in Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital during March 1990-March 1995. Postoperatively, seven of nine patients (77.8 %) achieve 20/40 or better spectacle visual acuity during an average follow-up interval of 17.2 months (range 5-30 months). Postoperative spherical equivalent refraction error was -3.25D to +1.00D, the average postoperative anisometropia was approximately 1.67D (range 0-3.25D). All cases (except cases 4, 5) had posterior capsule opacity, YAG Laser capsulotomy was performed in cases 7, 8 and one patient had papillary capture. With improved surgical technique and IOL, IOL implantation was appropiated for children of any age.
