บทคัดย่อ

The objectives of this research were to study the effects of socio-economic and psychological factors on HIV risk behaviors determining predictors of HIV infection among commercial female sex workers (CFSWs) and to create suitable intervention for HIV/AIDS prevention. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used in the study. Ten members focus groups randomly selected from the brothels in Banpong district, were formed in order to be a broader sense of issues and formulate a questionaire to interview 110 CFSWs for the quantitative study among 54 CFSWs HIV positive and 56 CFSWs HIV negative. Multiple Regression Analysis was performed in order to determine the HIV risk behaviors.

The results show that factors which can promote the HIV infection of CFSWs include sexual behaviors, HIV/AIDS preventive behaviors and sexual negotiation. The factors that influenced sexual behaviors of CFSWs was the receive suggestions pertaining to HIV/AIDS prevention from television and health care provider, sexual negotiation, age and residence. The factors that influenced HIV/AIDS prevention behaviors was the residence of CFSWs. The results should be useful for planning on service facility and HIV prevention facility. The Ratchaburi Public Health Office must continue to develop was the enforce condom use among CFSWs. Attempts to reduce the HIV risk behaviors should focus on improving sexual negotiation and condom use skills with focus group tecnique.
